Postpartum Doula

About Me

My name is Darcy Sauers and I am a postpartum doula certified by DONA International.  I am also a certified Prenatal Yoga Instructor and a certified Yoga Birth Method instructor.  I live in Dover, NH with my husband and three children ages 7, 6 and 3.

My passion is pregnancy and the twelve week period after a baby's birth.  It's such an amazing and transformational time in the life of the baby, the mom and the family.  As your postpartum doula, I will support you during this special time period.

"I think the greatest gift Darcy gave me in her services as a postpartum doula was confidence in my abilities as a mother.  At 2-3 weeks as a first time mom, that’s very hard to come by and it makes a huge difference in navigating the day-to-day ups and downs of these first few weeks.  My biggest concern was about feeding our son; was I feeding him enough or too much?  If he started crying an hour after his last feeding, could he really be hungry or was there something else going on?   It seems everybody has an opinion on how you should feed your baby, by a schedule or on demand, and sorting through what made sense with our son had left me feeling completely overwhelmed.  I really appreciated that Darcy didn’t try to add her opinion into the mix.  She listened to what I had observed with our son and what my basic gut instincts were telling me, and then she helped provide the information and support I needed to start following up on that.  The observations she made on how she knew he was ready to feed (before he got to the frantic stage!) were invaluable.  With her help, I had the easiest and calmest feeding I’ve ever had with him – and since I’ve started looking for the cues she pointed out, each successive feeding I’ve done on my own has gone much more smoothly.  I highly recommend Darcy’s services for any new mother.  Her very knowledgeable, practical, and supportive approach really helps calm your anxieties and restore your confidence that you can be a good mom!"

"Darcy is fantastic!  She assisted us after the birth of our third baby.  As a mother of three children, she understands the challenges of having three children and offered a great deal of advice from her own experience. Her calming presence and good humor made her a pleasure to work with.  She was great with my older children, who loved having her around and were sad to see her leave. I would highly recommend Darcy as a postpartum doula for any family!"

"Darcy has been wonderful - a great resource, someone to listen, she gives helpful suggestions and advice, does a little research if needed, and was terrific with our son!  I had many troubles with breastfeeding; Darcy offered advice and reassurance along with encouragement and support (which I definitely needed)!  Just to have her hold our son so I could shower or take a nap was a huge help (as our son did not like to be put down at all!).  Darcy makes herself very accessible - e-mail, phone, text - I even ran into her out walking with her son.  She is very easy to talk to and as a mom herself, has been there and understands a new mom's fatigue, anxieties, and the other hundreds of emotions that are overwhelming with a newborn.  My husband and I definitely appreciated Darcy's support during our son's first weeks of life.   Even now (my son is 3 1/2 months currently), I know I can contact her to chat, ask questions, or get another perspective on things.  I highly recommend Darcy to all new moms!"
